Auction result well in line with expectations

In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A young lady called Laure Permon, Duchesse d'Abrantès, facing right in blue silk dress adorned with white tassels, high standing lace collar and fur stole, her dark hair curled and upswept by Nicolas Jacques. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,728.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolas Jacques achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work [Louis-Philippe of Orléans (1775-1850), King of the French 1830-1848 and his sister, Madame Adélaïde (1777-1847); he, in black coat and waistcoat, pleated cravat and knotted cravat; curling dark hair and thick sidewhiskers; and she, in white dress|A

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit [Louis-Philippe of Orléans (1775-1850), King of the French 1830-1848 and his sister, Madame Adélaïde (1777-1847); he, in black coat and waistcoat, pleated cravat and knotted crav
