In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Louis-Philippe of Orléans (1775-1850), King of the French 1830-1848 and his sister, Madame Adélaïde (1777-1847); he, in black coat and waistcoat, pleated cravat and knotted cravat; curling dark hair and thick sidewhiskers; and she, in white dress by Nicolas Jacques. It changed hands for a price of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,310.73) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Louis-Philippe of Orléans (1775-1850), King of the French 1830-1848 and his sister, Madame Adélaïde (1777-1847); he, in black coat and waistcoat, pleated cravat and knotted cravat; curling dark hair and thick sidewhiskers; and she, in white dress is the most expensive artwork by Nicolas Jacques that we have observed at auctions so far.
