It achieved a price of USD 150,000.00 (€ 122,840.06), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Nicolaes Maes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).

Die Arbeit The Flight Of Lot von Nicolaes Maes kam im Februar 2018 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 150.000,00 (€ 122.840,06) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicolaes Maes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.149.543,66).
