The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,253.54) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).
