Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters Part II, which included the work Portrait Of A Boy As Cupid by Nicolaes Maes. The price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 36,234.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Boy As Cupid von Nicolaes Maes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 36.234,88) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolaes Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.149.543,66).
