Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work I Wish My Girlfriend Was This Dirty, 2011 by Nick Darmstaedter was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,500.00 (€ 1,290.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nick Darmstaedter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Suck in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 149,000.00 (€ 117,991.76).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit I Wish My Girlfriend Was This Dirty, 2011 von Nick Darmstaedter im September 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.500,00 (€ 1.290,66) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nick Darmstaedter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Suck im September 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 149.000,00 (€ 117.991,76).
