Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Otona ni Oyatsu-Chichibitashi Nama-Ichigo (Snacks for Adults. Chilean Strawberry) by Taniguchi Natsuko was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 9,450.00 (€ 9,650.30). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Taniguchi Natsuko - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playing Children, which sold at auction in May 2008 for HKD 247,500.00 (€ 20,375.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Otona ni Oyatsu-Chichibitashi Nama-Ichigo (Snacks for Adults. Chilean Strawberry) von Taniguchi Natsuko im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 10.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 9.450,00 (€ 9.650,30) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Taniguchi Natsuko mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Playing Children beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für HKD 247.500,00 (€ 20.375,80) versteigert wurde.
