This artwork by Nathanial Hone the Younger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2011. In the Old Master & British Paintings (Day Sale) auction, the work Portrait of a lady as Terpsichore, half-length, in a landscape sold for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 47,486.48) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nathanial Hone the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Captain the Hon. Robert Boyle Walsingham, M.P. (1736-1780), full-length, in naval uniform, with a view of Louisbourg, Canada, beyond in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 245,750.00 (€ 394,338.12).
