Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gathering Seaweed On The Strand, Malahide by Nathanial Hone the Younger was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,298.86). Admittedly, works by Nathanial Hone the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Captain the Hon. Robert Boyle Walsingham, M.P. (1736-1780), full-length, in naval uniform, with a view of Louisbourg, Canada, beyond in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 245,750.00 (€ 394,338.12).
Robert Boyle Walsingham, M.P. (1736-1780), full-length, in naval uniform, with a view of Louisbourg, Canada, beyond im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 245.750,00 (€ 394.338,12).
