This artwork by Nandipha Mntambo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work Swazizeus sold for GBP 26,250.00 (€ 29,887.07) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. This high result makes Swazizeus the most expensive artwork by Nandipha Mntambo that we have observed at auctions so far.
