Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Set Design For Eugene Onegin by Mstislav Dobuzhinsky was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,118.43). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mstislav Dobuzhinsky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Boats On The Neva, which sold at auction in June 2014 for GBP 92,500.00 (€ 115,574.32).

Als die Arbeit Set Design For Eugene Onegin von Mstislav Dobuzhinsky im November 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 37.500,00 (€ 33.118,43) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Mstislav Dobuzhinsky mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Boats On The Neva beobachtet, die im Juni 2014 für GBP 92.500,00 (€ 115.574,32) versteigert wurde.
