This artwork by Morita Shiryū achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2020. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Choo (Conspicuousness), 1969 sold for USD 137,500.00 (€ 117,340.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Morita Shiryū - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work So - Wilderness, which sold at auction in October 2017 for HKD 2,740,000.00 (€ 301,569.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Morita Shiryū erzielte im September 2020 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Choo (Conspicuousness), 1969 für USD 137.500,00 (€ 117.340,84) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Morita Shiryū mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit So - Wilderness beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für HKD 2.740.000,00 (€ 301.569,37) versteigert wurde.
