Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Bonhams held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work 'The Beautiful Forest Queen' by Montague Dawson. The price achieved of GBP 38,100.00 (€ 43,421.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Montague Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'The Beautiful Forest Queen' von Montague Dawson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 38.100,00 (€ 43.421,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Montague Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
