Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Bonhams held the auction Home & InteriorsCollections, which included the work The White Star - fair weather - fine voyage by Montague Dawson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,875.00 (€ 28,872.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Montague Dawson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Home & InteriorsCollections durch, in der auch die Arbeit The White Star - fair weather - fine voyage von Montague Dawson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.875,00 (€ 28.872,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Montague Dawson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
