Dölf Amacker went to India around 1948, shortly after independence and worked there as a young engineer. This work was acquired during his stay, between 1948 and 1961.

In October 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Untitled (Fishermen) by Mohan Samant. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,495.53), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Mohan Samant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kings And The Crowd in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 162,500.00 (€ 147,338.83).

Im Oktober 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Fishermen) von Mohan Samant zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 19.495,53) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mohan Samant auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kings And The Crowd im März 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 162.500,00 (€ 147.338,83).
