Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tenuxtlitan by Miguel Ángel Ríos was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 500.00 (€ 473.84). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Miguel Ángel Ríos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sudamérica in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 14,100.00 (€ 16,676.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Tenuxtlitan von Miguel Ángel Ríos im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 500,00 (€ 473,84) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Miguel Ángel Ríos erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sudamérica im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.100,00 (€ 16.676,52).
