Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Michiel Carrée could be acquired at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS auction, the work An Italianate landscape with shepherds and their cattle near a ruin changed hands for EUR 4,780.00 - missing the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Other works by Michiel Carrée have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2011 by the work A wooded landscape with a drover and her cattle at rest by classical ruins; and A wooded river landscape with a drover and his cattle watering at GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,451.34).
