In September 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram R. Firestone, which included the work Looking Towards Cheltenham Race Course (The Cotswold On Cleeve Common) by Michael Lyne. Here, the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,161.29). Admittedly, works by Michael Lyne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The End Of The Day in June 2001 with an auction result of USD 24,675.00 (€ 29,118.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion The Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram R. Firestone durch, in der auch die Arbeit Looking Towards Cheltenham Race Course (The Cotswold On Cleeve Common) von Michael Lyne zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 6.048,00 (€ 5.161,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Michael Lyne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The End Of The Day im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.675,00 (€ 29.118,48).
