Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hounds Crossing A Ditch With The Vale Of The White Horse Hunt by Michael Lyne was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,225.81). Admittedly, works by Michael Lyne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The End Of The Day in June 2001 with an auction result of USD 24,675.00 (€ 29,118.48).
