Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Rock and Calligraphy by Mi Wanzhong was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 319,500.00 (€ 27,930.15). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mi Wanzhong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landscape, which sold at auction in November 2005 for HKD 600,000.00 (€ 65,648.85).
