Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price

When the work Series Artist With American Inspiration (Banknotes America Posters: Part Of The Installation Tresses) by Meschac Gaba was auctioned at Sothebys in Amsterdam in June 2010, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 5,500.00. Admittedly, works by Meschac Gaba have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Pavé Dans La Mère in May 2017 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,842.16).

Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit Series Artist With American Inspiration (Banknotes America Posters: Part Of The Installation Tresses) von Meschac Gaba im Juni 2010 bei Sothebys in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 5.500,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Meschac Gaba auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Pavé Dans La Mère im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.842,16).
