Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sa Reserve Bank Building, Pretoria by Meschac Gaba was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,460.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Meschac Gaba - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le Pavé Dans La Mère, which sold at auction in May 2017 for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,842.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sa Reserve Bank Building, Pretoria von Meschac Gaba kam im Mai 2017 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.460,54) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Meschac Gaba mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Le Pavé Dans La Mère beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.842,16) versteigert wurde.
