Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a bison (recto); and Silhouette of a bison (verso) by Mervyn Lawrence Peake was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST auction at Christies in London in December 2001. The price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 671.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mervyn Lawrence Peake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The sculpture gallery, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,782.28).
