This artwork by Menso Kamerlingh Onnes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2003. In the Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Blooming hawthorn tree sold for EUR 10,157.50 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Menso Kamerlingh Onnes; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Indian cress sold at auction in June 2015 with the realized price of EUR 20,000.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Menso Kamerlingh Onnes erzielte im September 2003 bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings wurde die Arbeit Blooming hawthorn tree für EUR 10.157,50 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Menso Kamerlingh Onnes; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Indian cress im Juni 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 20.000,00.
