Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April last year Phillips in an online auction held the auction New York State of Mind: Photographs Online Auction, which included the work Over New York by Melvin Sokolsky. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,940.00 (€ 22,719.94), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Melvin Sokolsky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Paris 1963, which sold at auction in April 2012 for USD 92,500.00 (€ 69,922.14).
