Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An eagle, swallow, snipe and finch in flight by Melchior d'Hondecoeter was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 223,500.00 (€ 205,139.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit An eagle, swallow, snipe and finch in flight von Melchior d'Hondecoeter kam im April 2017 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 223.500,00 (€ 205.139,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
