Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work A Peacock, Pigeon, Ducks And Other Birds In A Garden Setting by Melchior d'Hondecoeter. The »bidding war« ended at USD 236,500.00 (€ 162,845.14), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Peacock, Pigeon, Ducks And Other Birds In A Garden Setting von Melchior d'Hondecoeter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 236.500,00 (€ 162.845,14) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
