In July 2014 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A cockatoo, a monkey by a wicker basket of fruit, with a blue fronted Amazon parrot and figs, a melon, peaches and other fruit on a partially draped marble ledge, with a starling and a swallow in a wooded landscape, a classical building beyond by Melchior d'Hondecoeter. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 110,500.00 (€ 139,375.24), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).

Im Juli 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A cockatoo, a monkey by a wicker basket of fruit, with a blue fronted Amazon parrot and figs, a melon, peaches and other fruit on a partially draped marble ledge, with a starling and a swallow in a wooded landscape, a classical building beyond von Melchior d'Hondecoeter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 110.500,00 (€ 139.375,24) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
