In January 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art, which included the work Watermill by Meindert Hobbema. The »bidding war« ended at USD 881,000.00 (€ 593,625.77), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Meindert Hobbema achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Wooded Landscape With Travellers On A Path Through A Hamlet in July 2001 with an auction result of GBP 6,493,750.00 (€ 10,574,602.95).

Im Januar 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Watermill von Meindert Hobbema zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 881.000,00 (€ 593.625,77) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Meindert Hobbema erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Wooded Landscape With Travellers On A Path Through A Hamlet im Juli 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.493.750,00 (€ 10.574.602,95).
