Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape After Ni Zan by Mei Qing was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 120,000.00 – 160,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 106,250.00 (€ 84,138.42). Admittedly, works by Mei Qing have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scenes Of Mt. Huang in October 2015 with an auction result of HKD 3,440,000.00 (€ 401,883.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape After Ni Zan von Mei Qing im September 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 160.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 106.250,00 (€ 84.138,42) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mei Qing auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scenes Of Mt. Huang im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.440.000,00 (€ 401.883,72).
