This artwork by Mei Lanfang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2021. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Magnolia / Calligraphy in Running Script sold for HKD 106,250.00 (€ 11,813.92) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mei Lanfang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Amitayu in April 2016 with an auction result of HKD 687,500.00 (€ 77,457.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mei Lanfang erzielte im November 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Magnolia / Calligraphy in Running Script für HKD 106.250,00 (€ 11.813,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mei Lanfang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Amitayu im April 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 687.500,00 (€ 77.457,17).
