This artwork by Maynard Dixon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April last year. In the Western Art auction, the work Evening on Orocopio (Painted Canyon), Imperial Valley sold for USD 53,295.00 (€ 50,578.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maynard Dixon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pony Boy in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 1,326,000.00 (€ 1,562,573.65).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Maynard Dixon erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Western Art wurde die Arbeit Evening on Orocopio (Painted Canyon), Imperial Valley für USD 53.295,00 (€ 50.578,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maynard Dixon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pony Boy im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.326.000,00 (€ 1.562.573,65).
