The work Covered Bridge by Maud Lewis was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in June 2010. The result of CAD 6,000.00 (€ 4,602.39) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of CAD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maud Lewis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A View Of Sandy Cove, which sold at auction in November 2012 for CAD 20,400.00 (€ 15,788.44).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Covered Bridge von Maud Lewis wurde im Juni 2010 in der Auktion Important Canadian Art bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von CAD 6.000,00 (€ 4.602,39) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von CAD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Maud Lewis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A View Of Sandy Cove beobachtet, die im November 2012 für CAD 20.400,00 (€ 15.788,44) versteigert wurde.
