This artwork by Matthew Franklin Johnson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in April 2001. In the CONTEMPORARY ART auction, the work 60 Steps To Maine sold for AUD 12,925.00 (€ 7,422.33) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Matthew Franklin Johnson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Relic sold at auction in May 2005 with the realized price of AUD 15,535.00 (€ 9,549.45).
