Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Sothebys in Cologne held the auction Contemporary Passions, which included the work DE LAMA LÂMINA: De Lama Lâmina by Matthew Barney. It changed hands for a price of EUR 5,670.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in Köln die Auktion Contemporary Passions durch, in der auch die Arbeit DE LAMA LÂMINA: De Lama Lâmina von Matthew Barney zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 5.670,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
