Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Drum & Bass Suwary by Mathieu Mercier was auctioned at Christies in Paris in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mathieu Mercier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diamant in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 25,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Drum & Bass Suwary von Mathieu Mercier im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.900,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mathieu Mercier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Diamant im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 25.000,00.
