Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of George Fermor, 3rd Earl of Pomfret (1768-1830), half-length, wearing the uniform of a Captain in the Northamptonshire Militia by Mather Brown was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2010. The price achieved of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,738.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mather Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Major Norton, the Mohawk Chief Teyoninhokarawen in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 66,104.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of George Fermor, 3rd Earl of Pomfret (1768-1830), half-length, wearing the uniform of a Captain in the Northamptonshire Militia von Mather Brown kam im Oktober 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.375,00 (€ 2.738,41) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mather Brown erzielen.
