Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Mather Brown could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Lord William Russell with his family before his execution changed hands for USD 14,400.00 (€ 11,273.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mather Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Major Norton, the Mohawk Chief Teyoninhokarawen in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 66,104.01).
