Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Portrait Of Mrs Mary Livius (1757-1837) by Mather Brown was sold in the The Rafael Valls Sale auction at Sothebys in London in April 2020. The price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,039.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mather Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Major Norton, the Mohawk Chief Teyoninhokarawen in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 66,104.01).

Die Arbeit A Portrait Of Mrs Mary Livius (1757-1837) von Mather Brown wurde im April 2020 in der Auktion The Rafael Valls Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.039,30) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mather Brown erzielen.
