This artwork by The Master of the Fiesole Epiphany achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2009. In the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work The Madonna and Child with the Infant Saint John the Baptist sold for USD 128,500.00 (€ 100,359.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by The Master of the Fiesole Epiphany; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Madonna And Child With The Infant St. John The Baptist sold at auction in December 2007 with the realized price of GBP 102,500.00 (€ 139,280.11).
