Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Venice Nude Beach Series/Self-Portrait by Masami Teraoka for HKD 125,000.00 (€ 13,656.81). This price was achieved in the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) at Christies in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of HKD 180,000.00 – 320,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Masami Teraoka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Cloisters Venus and Pope's Workout in November 2009 with an auction result of HKD 4,820,000.00 (€ 414,685.87).
