Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selected Images (Dita Von Teese and Iko) by Mary Ellen Mark was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,134.00 (€ 1,076.21). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Ellen Mark achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clayton Moore - The Former Lone Ranger At His Home - Los Angeles, California in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,965.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Selected Images (Dita Von Teese and Iko) von Mary Ellen Mark im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.134,00 (€ 1.076,21) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Ellen Mark erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clayton Moore - The Former Lone Ranger At His Home - Los Angeles, California im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.965,18).
