In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction Maritime and Naval Battles, which included the work Yachts approaching the turning mark at Cowes with the King of Spain's steam yacht Giralda at her mooring beyond by Martyn Richardson Mackrill. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,688.69), 37% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martyn Richardson Mackrill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valkyrie (III) leading His Majesty's yacht Britannia off Hunter's Quay, during the Clyde Regatta, 1895 in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime and Naval Battles durch, in der auch die Arbeit Yachts approaching the turning mark at Cowes with the King of Spain's steam yacht Giralda at her mooring beyond von Martyn Richardson Mackrill zur Versteigerung kam.
