Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In February 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime, which included the work A day of sailing by Martyn Richardson Mackrill. The »bidding war« ended at USD 14,400.00 (€ 12,075.47), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martyn Richardson Mackrill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Valkyrie (III) leading His Majesty's yacht Britannia off Hunter's Quay, during the Clyde Regatta, 1895, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Februar 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Maritime durch, in der auch die Arbeit A day of sailing von Martyn Richardson Mackrill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 14.400,00 (€ 12.075,47) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Martyn Richardson Mackrill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Valkyrie (III) leading His Majesty's yacht Britannia off Hunter's Quay, during the Clyde Regatta, 1895 beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 26.290,00 (€ 39.444,68) versteigert wurde.
