Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work Ships At Sea by Martinus Schouman for GBP 1,188.00 (€ 1,363.41). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Drawings Including Property from the Descendants of Walter Brandt at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martinus Schouman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The English flagship Venerable engaging the Dutch flagship Vrijheid at the Battle of Camperdown, 11th October 1797; the Dutch ships Staten-Generaal and Admiral de Vries to the left and right respectively in February 2004 with an auction result of USD 45,410.00 (€ 36,500.28).

Im Juli 2011 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Ships At Sea von Martinus Schouman für GBP 1.188,00 (€ 1.363,41) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master and British Drawings Including Property from the Descendants of Walter Brandt bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martinus Schouman erzielen.
