Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Son of Sam Sleeps by Martin Wong was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in June 2021. It changed hands for a price of HKD 2,772,000.00 (€ 301,111.07) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martin Wong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Quong Yuen Shing & Co., which sold at auction in May last year for USD 1,260,375.00 (€ 1,174,517.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Son of Sam Sleeps von Martin Wong kam im Juni 2021 bei Phillips in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von HKD 2.772.000,00 (€ 301.111,07) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Martin Wong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Quong Yuen Shing & Co. beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 1.260.375,00 (€ 1.174.517,75) versteigert wurde.
