Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Mark Rothko was auctioned at Phillips in New York in June 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,500,000.00 – 4,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,700,000.00 (€ 3,122,889.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Rothko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
