Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Green, Blue, Green by Mark Rothko was sold in the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The price achieved of USD 8,350,900.00 (€ 7,435,580.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000,000.00 – 10,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Rothko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
