Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Desert Citizens by Mark Klett was auctioned at Christies in Los Angeles in June 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,410.00 (€ 1,663.91). Admittedly, works by Mark Klett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Around Toroweap Point, just before and after sundown, beginning and ending with views used by J.K. Hillers over 100 years ago, Grand Canyon in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,030.71).
