In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II, which included the work Untitled (Crimson Red and Canary Yellow Butterfly 45.93) by Mark Grotjahn. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,033,200.00 (€ 1,000,871.84), 29% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Grotjahn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 16,767,500.00 (€ 14,923,015.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 29 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Crimson Red and Canary Yellow Butterfly 45.93) von Mark Grotjahn zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.033.200,00 (€ 1.000.871,84) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Grotjahn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.767.500,00 (€ 14.923.015,31).
